Seven RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) technical engineers attended an engineering training programme led by Chiyoda Corporation, a leading Japanese engineering company operating in Qatar since 1970.

The 8-week programme was carried out in two phases in collaboration with its local subsidiary Chiyoda Almana, established in Qatar since 2008. The first phase was held at Chiyoda Almana’s Doha office for one week, providing an introduction to the engineering disciplines involved in LNG brownfield projects as well as a pre-travel induction programme.

The second phase of the program was conducted at Chiyoda Headquarters in Japan for seven weeks focusing on fundamental and practical lectures of various project engineering fields required for the project execution and plant operation of a LNG plant.

Chiyoda’s training provided since 1993, aims to enhance young Qatari engineers’ expertise and capabilities in order to enable them add value to their areas of work. The training programme was developed based on Chiyoda’s long-standing experience and its many partnerships with clients in Qatar. The programme extends beyond the technical development of RasGas engineers to include cultural exchange and introduction to the Japanese business environment.

The business relationship between RasGas and Chiyoda began in the early 1990’s and has been maintained through a number of projects executed by Chiyoda and Chiyoda Almana for RasGas.

“Since the inception of these training programmes in 1993, more than 120 Qatari engineers from Qatar Petroleum, RasGas and Qatargas have attended Chiyoda’s training programmes in Qatar and Japan. We shall continue to train Qatari engineers to prove our commitment and contribution to the human resources development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030, a fundamental element of the country’s sustainable development,” commented Mr. Madoka Koda, Managing Director of Chiyoda Almana.
