Chiyoda Almana, a leading Engineering Contractor in the hydrocarbon & non-hydrocarbon Qatari market conducted a two day Chiyoda Almana Forum 2014, on 08 & 09 April 2014 at Four Seasons Doha Hotel.

“The presence at this opening ceremony of more than 100 key industry leaders and technical authorities from the Oil & Gas, hydrocarbon industries as well as non-hydrocarbon, Infrastructure & environmental agencies, is clear proof that this event confirms the importance of the inaugural Chiyoda Almana Forum to the continued and sustainable development of Qatar in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030” said Managing Director of Chiyoda Almana Mr. Shizuka Ikawa during his opening speech.

Agenda of Chiyoda Almana Forum for this year was enriched by the participation of high profile Guest speaker including H.E. Mr. Shingo Tsuda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of Japan, Mr. Hamad Mubarak Al-Muhannadi, Chief Operating Officer, RasGas Company Limited, Dr. Mohammad Albeldawi, Head of Environment, RLIC & MIC, QP Industrial Cities, Dr. Marwan K Khraisheh, Research Director, Qatar Environment and Energy Institute and Mr. Takashi Kubota, Executive Chairman, Chiyoda Corporation.

Established by Chiyoda Corporation in collaboration with a renowned local partner, Almana Group, in March 2008, Chiyoda Almana Engineering LLC provides full engineering services in Qatar. Chiyoda has executed the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) work for 12 of the 14 LNG trains that it has taken up in Qatar, besides other projects since 1970’s. Chiyoda Almana being a Qatari engineering arm of Chiyoda consistently provides comprehensive services for over 200 projects to local clients in the fields of oil, petrochemicals, gas and water treatment facilities, with more than 700 experienced employees of over 25 nationalities.

Chiyoda Almana’s first project was awarded in early 2009 by Rasgas to provide the Long Term EPCm services to the RasGas Facility in Ras Laffan and we are proud to say still forms one of the core contracts of our business Since then Chiyoda Almana has developed rapidly by providing the highest quality of engineering services to the Major operators and clients in Qatar through various long term and key contracts for Study, FEED, EPC, and EPCm works for Hydrocarbon and Non-Hydrocarbon projects.

The competition in the engineering contractors market in Qatar is accelerating as a result of the rapid growth in Energy related businesses. On 28 August 2013 and during the official visit of H.E. Japanese Prime Minister Mr. Shinzo Abe to Doha, both governments of Japan and Qatar have signed “Memorandum of Understanding” regarding Chiyoda’s training activities for Qatar Petroleum, RasGas and Qatargas staffs.

The training courses in engineering at Chiyoda have a 20-year history, imparting advanced training for Qatari engineers, and starting way back in 1993. The company has provided various learning opportunities to almost a hundred Qatari engineering graduates in the field of design and engineering techniques for hydrocarbon processing plants. Some of the successful candidates have leveraged on their gained expertise to reach senior management positions and become active contributors to the sector. The training mark Chiyoda’s ongoing commitment and support to Qatar’s sustainable development and continued prosperity, in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030.
